DESIGN ANIMATION PROFESSIONAL

Advanced techniques are presented, with an emphasis on self-directed creative work. The Design Proposal must be presented and accepted by the Graduate Faculty Thesis Review Committee before the student proceeds to Graduate Studio.ДЄ continuation of Introduction to 3-D Computer Modeling and Animation. The Master's Thesis Project is on a subject of the candidate's own design. In this course, all candidates must create a design for a functional thesis that will be accomplished during their course of studies. Prerequisite: Prerequisite: ARTC 801, ARTC 802 or ARTC 803

The learning experience is enriched with classroom visits by creative professionals who are working with innovative technologies. Students engage in research and visit exhibition venues on a regular basis, investing time to study the work of artists and designers and write about them. Students design their own characters, stories, and storyboards.Д¬ontemporary Art reviews the current state of the digital art culture. Topics include concept and treatment documents, character documents, costume design, set design, stories and storytelling, plot, timing, scripts, storyboards, and much more. This course covers the basic essentials for the making of great characters and great stories. Students will create several animations duringg the semester. Topics include 3D modeling, texturing, lighting, rendering, and basic animation techniques. After fulfilling all master thesis requirements, the student becomes a candidate for graduation.Д¬lassroom Hours - Laboratory and/or Studio Hours вЂ“ Course Credits: 1-3-3ДЄ survey of the fundamental concepts of three dimensional modeling and animation. The exhibition will give candidates the opportunity to display their work and projects for public viewing.

DESIGN ANIMATION PROFESSIONAL

In the thesis exhibition, students will present their work in a professional manner. The written thesis and supporting documentation will be presented to the faculty for final review.

Students will learn to write about the critical evaluation of their project and all supporting research, development, and project plans. Readings include critical essays, manifestos, and historical perspectives of art theory. Topics include theoretical outlines that examine the mimetic, expressive, and formalistic categories of the plastic arts. Assignments include exercises that focus on critical thinking, appropriate vocabulary, meaning, definitions, clarity and objective perspective.ДЄesthetics and Theory focuses on the philosophical questions that relate to the creation of the content and context of image-making, performance and interactive artistic experiences. The ability to concretely state one's views in a clear and concise manner is an asset when analyzing the complexity of one's subjective realm.

The course will also cover the impact that artists have made on the technical world, particularly through the disciplines of printmaking, photography, film, and digital visualization.Д¬lassroom Hours - Laboratory and/or Studio Hours вЂ“ Course Credits: 3-0-3Д¬ritical Thinking and Writing About the ArtsД¬ritical Thinking and Writing about the Arts prepares the student in developing the skills necessary to communicate her/his aesthetic concepts in a formal written paper.

Topics include: The use of tools, new materials, processes of production, mass communication, new products, inventions, and applications that were originally envisioned to be utilized in an industrial society and how they are now applied in the creation of artwork. History of Art and Technology is a survey course that explores the relationship between emerging technologies and the influence on the artistic perspective.
